Expressing feelings

There is something bothering me tonight. Well, its been bothering me since yesterday actually. It seems I have made a friend mad, and I didn't mean to.

I think when you are close friends with someone, in real life, or online, you should be able to talk to those friends. I mean talk, express your feelings, about whatever. Friends do that, right? Or am I crazy? All the friend needs to do is listen, maybe acknowledge they heard what you said. They don't have to do as you say, take your advice, or whatever. They could listen, and choose to do things their way, or they could listen and maybe something good could come out of the situation. Whatever happens, you should be allowed to speak your mind to a friend, and all should be hunky dory.

Apparently that is not the case.

Something had been bothering me for a long time, and yesterday, I spoke up about it to a friend. I did it in a nice way (I thought so anyways), I just expressed my concern about something (concerning her health & her families, I was worried about safety), and I asked said friend how they'd feel if something happened because of what they were doing. Said friend left the conversation, and has not returned...its been a day and a half. Normally we talk EVERY DAY, off and on all day. I'm sad that my feelings bothered her so much that she chose to leave, I didn't think it was necessary. Something to the lines of, "You do it your way, I do it mine", or "Mind your own business", or "Yes, I hear your thoughts, but I don't agree" could have been said... but no, said friend just left. Mad. I'm sorry friend is mad. But I'm not sorry I spoke up. I hope friend can get over being mad, and return to being friends. I miss this friend.

Does anything I said make sense? I hope so. I just miss this friend. I'm sad she got mad. Not sorry I spoke up. I have been honestly concerned for safety reasons.

Do you speak up to your friends when there is something bothering you?

I don't have many friends and I'm not good at talking to them in person. It's a flaw I have. But I would listen to whatever a friend had to say to me. I would even let them know if they offended me. I hope you both can mend things!! It's really hard to loose touch with a loved one!
